"Alcor holds grudges, sometimes," Brand had told him, looking down and away. His brother hadn't seen his face fall even further than it had as he looked at the tokota he had once called his. Guess he can't anymore. "You can ride Mizar, though, she won't mind, since you're one of us." His twin gave him a somewhat reasuring sort of grimace.

"Hah, thanks," Kallen said, and he appreciated the thought - he really did - but he knew it wouldn't be quite the same. Still, he hadn't ridden a tokota in, what, four years? Mizar would probably be kinder, anyway, and right now, he prefered an easier ride than his former tokota would provide.

"Come on, I'll show you where the saddles are," Brand gave him a better smile this time, "the one I usually use for Mizar is pretty nice, and I've got a blanket with colors perfect for you."

"Green?"

"Of course!" his brother laughed, grinning now. "It's this way - you remember how to put a saddle on, right?"

"As if I could forget that!" Kallan laughed, remembering his efforts to put Alcor's tack on when they were both younger (it usually ended with him on the gound and the tokota either idly escaping and almost always with the laughter of Brand) and forgetting his heartache, for the moment.

I spent so long on that background but ugh it still feels empty. I guess I hope it can count as a complex bg?

Introducing Vallan, Brand's twin brother! Actually, I probably have to introduce Brand, too, huh? I don't think I've drawn him before. Vallan's the one on the left, with Mizar, Brand on the right, with Alcor. Slowly working on and expanding my tokota storyline 8D
